ELIGIBILITY
- The competition is open to pianists in grades 9-12 who are legal residents of the United States and studying with a private teacher.
- Ten finalists will be chosen through recorded auditions.
- Teachers are encouraged to submit as many students as they wish, but due to the limited number of finalists, no more than two finalists from any one studio will be chosen.
- Former Grand Prize winners are ineligible to compete.
- Previous Honorable Mention winners are invited to return if they qualify under all other competition guidelines.
AWARDS
- Cash awards of $1000 will be given to four Grand Prize Winners.
- Scholarship cash awards of $300 will be given to the remaining six finalists.
- Master Classes and a reception will be provided for all finalists.
- All of the young artists will be presented in a recital on Sunday afternoon.
- Future performance opportunities will be arranged for the finalists when possible.
FEE
A $50 nonrefundable entry fee per student must accompany each
audition recording and application form. Checks should be made payable
to MMAS.

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS
- Pianists will perform a balanced program from memory, not to exceed 20 minutes in length.
- Finalists must perform the same works that were submitted on the audition recording.
- All repertoire must be memorized.
- Copies of all music must be provided for the judge. Photocopies will not be accepted.
PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES
- The competition requires a weekend commitment.
- Complimentary tickets will be provided for parents and teachers of the contestants for the performance on Friday, April 17. All contestants are required to attend.
- A dinner will be provided prior to the concert, after which the finalists will draw for performance placement.
- Attendance at the Saturday and Sunday Master Classes and the recital on Sunday are required.
- The McKinney Musical Arts Society will feature the contestants in a recital at the Heard-Craig Performance Center on Sunday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. At the conclusion of the concert, all ten winners will receive their cash awards. Any winner unable to participate in this concert will forfeit the award.

COMPETITION LOCATION
All events will be held at the Heard-Craig Performance Center,
204 Church Street, McKinney, Texas.
McKinney is located 30 miles due north of Dallas on Highway 75.
